Dr. Erika Nelson-Wong has been a practicing physical therapist since 1996. She received her MSPT and DPT from Regis University in Denver, CO, and went on to earn her PhD in Spine Biomechanics from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2009. Dr. Nelson-Wong is a prolific researcher in spine biomechanics, musculoskeletal pain conditions, and the impact of physical therapy interventions for the treatment and prevention of low back pain with over 40 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to her clinical practice, she is also a Professor of Physical Therapy at Augustana University DPT.
Dr. Nelson-Wong’s specialty areas of practice include spinal conditions, chronic and acute pain conditions, recurrent low back pain, and strength and conditioning for middle-aged and older athletes. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and also holds a Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health with a specialty in chronic pain management.
